Chaos Seduces Order

Journeyman‘s project in goldsmithing: bangle consisting of four cut-through levels with the number “2” penetrating all levels. The topic given for the journeyman‘s project was „Chaos Seduces Order“.

To visualize this statement I used the one perfect system that knows no mercy and broke it with a minute alien element. The binary code consists of two bits of information: yes or no. Nothing else exists. Going beyond this limitation by introducing the number 2 automatically leads into collapse. The message that can still be deciphered through normal thinking is LE07 Chaos Seduces Order, i.e. my own initials, the year of creation and the topic.

Above all, technical clarity is executed by precise etchings. All metals used in this bangle were treated in accordance with their specific properties, i.e. the stainless steel plates were not heated but joined to silver with the aid of tubular rivets, and joined to gold by laser welding. In addition, all materials used keep their basic forms and stay what they are, i.e. sheet metal and tubes. This produces an industrial effect. The breakthroughs provide transparency and give an impression of pureness. In both types of visualisation, I see a connection to computer language.
