Silver 925, Gold Leaf / 50x50x25mm
Three earrings, in part gold leaf gilt.
The reason why I chose these three particular patterns for these earrings lies in their very different origins. Although they were taken from sources so far apart, they correspond remarkably well with each other, thus proving that everything is somehow connected. The three textures are inspired (left to right) by elephant skin, a river delta and a leaf, respectively. To visualize the astonishing similarity of the patterns, I took them all to the same rhythm size and created them in an identical way as far as the methods of production were concerned.
The earrings are basically made in the shape of a classical Creole earring. However, they do have a slightly altered shape. The earrings are not flat but slightly tension-bent into a spiral section to make them envelop the ear lobe. The stud is mounted in a way making use of the metal overlap as an additional safety catch so you will not lose your jewellery.
