Necklace, 440 mm long, with S-hook clasp.

Notwithstanding the focus on art, we must never forget that jewellery never goes without its canvas: the human body. It is for and in accordance with the human body that we design jewellery objects. Their purpose is to adorn it and underline its aesthetics.

The necklace hugs close to the throat like a piece of soft fabric, clothing the neckline like a feather boa. This is the only effect intended. Unlike in many of my other designs, this piece has but a surface story. This also has its advantages as, this time, the person wearing this piece is my principal focus.

Although this necklace is rather massively built it still obeys the rules of simplicity. Apart from the clasp, it entirely consists of loops or sections of loops. The individual links thus have a constructed effect. The S-hook clasp chosen is the earliest known clasp type used for necklaces. It is a mechanism without unnecessary frills that can be understood without thinking.
